RBI Data Shows ₹1.85 Lakh Crore Net Liquidity Absorption


The Reserve Bank of India released its latest money market and liquidity operations data on July 6, 2026, showing a net liquidity absorption of ₹1,84,898.18 crore when outstanding operations were counted along with the latest day’s transactions.

The figures were issued in RBI Press Release 2026-2027/613. The data is presented in ₹ crore, with rates shown in per cent, and is based on information from the Reserve Bank of India and the Clearing Corporation of India Limited.

Money market volumes shown at zero

In the money market section, the RBI release reported no recorded transaction volume across the listed overnight and term segments. The overall overnight segment was shown at 0.00, with the same figure reported for call money, triparty repo, market repo and repo in corporate bond.

The term segment also showed 0.00 across notice money, term money, triparty repo, market repo and repo in corporate bond. The release marked the weighted average rate and range fields as not applicable where there were no transactions.

Latest RBI operations

Under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility, Marginal Standing Facility and Standing Deposit Facility section, the RBI listed two entries for operations dated July 5, 2026, maturing on July 6, 2026.

  • Marginal Standing Facility: ₹45.00 crore for one day at 5.50 per cent.
  • Standing Deposit Facility: ₹1,89,324.00 crore for one day at 5.00 per cent.

On this basis, the RBI reported net liquidity from the day’s operations at minus ₹1,89,279.00 crore. In the RBI’s presentation, a positive number indicates liquidity injection, while a negative number indicates absorption.

Outstanding operations and SLF

The release also listed outstanding operations maturing on July 6, 2026. Under MSF, it showed ₹15.00 crore from July 4, 2026 for two days at 5.50 per cent. Another MSF entry from July 3, 2026 for three days was shown at ₹0.00 crore, also at 5.50 per cent.

Under SDF, the outstanding entries included ₹5,210.00 crore from July 4, 2026 for two days at 5.00 per cent, and ₹1,493.00 crore from July 3, 2026 for three days at 5.00 per cent.

The RBI also reported Standing Liquidity Facility availed from the central bank at ₹11,068.82 crore. Net liquidity injected from outstanding operations was shown at ₹4,380.82 crore.

Combining the outstanding operations with the day’s operations, the RBI reported net liquidity injection at minus ₹1,84,898.18 crore. The release states that net liquidity is calculated as repo plus MSF plus SLF, minus reverse repo and SDF.

Reserve position of banks

The cash reserves position of scheduled commercial banks was also included in the release. Cash balances with the RBI as on July 5, 2026 were reported at ₹7,92,864.48 crore.

The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending July 15, 2026 was shown at ₹7,98,115.00 crore. The Government of India surplus cash balance reckoned for auction as on July 3, 2026 was listed as ₹0.00 crore.

The release also reported net durable liquidity as a surplus of ₹4,82,130.00 crore as on June 15, 2026.
